Lindsey, just saw you on Rock Centre. Or whatever the hell it’s called.

It’s funny, we have little in common. You’re a young American woman, I’m an older Canadian man. You ski, I don’t.

But I have to tell you I choked up when I saw the end of the report when it was revealed ski jumping for women would be an Olympic sport. I’ve often said the worst combination there is, is ignorance and arrogance and those wankers who wouldn’t let women ski jump is one of the worst examples of that.

I have to be honest and say that I’ll be cheering for Canadian women in the Olympics but will be cheering for you as well. Consider yourself an honorary Canadian.

One last thing. I have a 9 year old daughter. I’d be so proud if she grew up like you. I’m so impressed.

Lindsey, I just saw your bio/story on Rock Center. I had no idea women weren’t allowed to compete in the ski jump in the Olympics.
I just want to tell you, your teammates, and your coach that I will be watching with pride when you all compete in Sochi! Way to stick to
your guns and make a difference for other women and, especially,
for opening that door for future women ski jumpers. You are a wonderful role model for young girls. Go for it! I’ll be watching and cheering!!

Hi Lindsey,
Your aunt and your grandmother would be so proud of you. My mother and your grandmother were very close friends and Mickey was my best friend! We used to jump the moguls and small jumps in Michigan and Mickey was fearless! I can see so much of Margie, George Sr. and the rest of the Van’s in you! I’ll be rooting for you in 2014 and thinking about Mickey while I type is making me cry! Congratulations on your gift of life to someone else!
